1. Question: Can KAN essential oils or synergy blends be used internally?
Answer:
No-not ever. All of KAN synergy blends or single oils are for external application only. The 10ml blend single oils only includes the essential oils, which are for diffusing. The single oils, when diluted with a carrier oil ( coconut oil, almond oil, jojoba, etc ) can be applied topically. For safe dilutions, please go to dilution chart. The 10 ml Roll On bottle includes all the essential oils and is pre-diluted with a nourishing carrier oil.
2. What are carrier oils?
Answer:
Carrier oils (Jojoba oil, coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, etc) are usually vegetable-based. They carry the essential oil safely onto your skin, protects your skin from a rash or irritation, helps you spread it over a large part of an area on the body. It is very easy to dilute your single essential oils ( Bergamot, Lavender, Geranium, Frankincense) by blending 2-3 drops with a carrier oil.
3. What is Patch testing?
Answer:
If you are someone who is taking a lot of prescriptions and/or has a lot of allergies, you should do a patch test.
Patch tests allow you to check for any skin irritations or allergic sensitivities.
Patch test steps:
~Simply, rub a small amount of diluted essential oil and apply it to your inner elbow.
~ Cover with a small band-aid or gauze.
~ Wait 24 hours.
~ Remove the band-aid or gauze.
If the skin patch is red, itchy, blistering or swollen, you have had an adverse reaction to the oil, discontinue immediately.
4. Are essential oils the same as fragrance oils?
Answer:
No, they are not. Essential oils are distilled from plants. Fragrance oils are synthetically created in a laboratory. Example of this: Candles. A chemist manufactures a scent so it will smell like something else ( i.e. Pumpkin Pie, Amber Romance, Gingerbread, Pina Colada are examples of scented fragrance oils).
5. Why are some oils unsafe for children?
Answer:
Essential oils are potent and could cause some harm if ingested or applied to sensitive body parts without dilution and supervision.
Essential oils are highly concentrated, volatile oils. Volatile meaning, they evaporate very quickly. Some essential oils (Eucalyptus, Fennel, Peppermint, Rosemary, Verbena, Wintergreen) should not be used on or around children- some reasons are toxicity reasons, adverse skin reactions, and breathing problems. Children are more at risk for obvious reasons: more susceptible to toxic substances, less developed livers and immune systems, their skin is thinner, and they are more susceptible to respiratory issues. Keep all EO’s out of reach of children/kids. If they ever accidentally “get into” your oils, call poison control and consider a trip to the
6. Why should certain oils be avoided during pregnancy?
Answer:
This is a very controversial practice- especially during the first three months. Much of what we know about using essential oils during pregnancy has come from aromatherapy education, research, and case studies.
“It is often mentioned, people are concerned that topical application of essential oils can cross the placental barrier and harm the fetus”.
When applied topically or added to baths, essential oils are absorbed through the skin, which means that the baby may be exposed to the oil as it passess through the placental lining.”
A dose that is therapeutic for an adult can have an adverse reaction or different effect on a developing fetus.
During pregnancy, essential oils can be:
*Inhaled Applied topically.
It is recommended that women “start with one drop of their chosen essential oil and increase up to three to five drops based on their tolerance.”

7. Do I need to dilute Kika Au Natural essential oils when using Topically?
Answer:
Yes, you must dilute ALL oils that are NOT “pre-diluted” already (synergy roll-on blends are pre-diluted).
8. When do essential oils expire?
Answer:
Most essential oils will be good up to 3 years if stored properly. They need to be kept cool, and the lid should always be tightly sealed. The exceptions to this rule are Tea tree, Lemon, and Lemongrass oils. You can expect these oils to be good up to 1-2 years- if stored properly.
9. When Diffusing, don’t exceed 30- to 60 minute intervals
Answer:
With essential oils, less is often more. Exceeding the ideal times does not amplify the oil’s therapeutic benefits. In fact, it can actually create stress on the your body, especially the nervous system.
Note:*
~Never substitute essential oils undiluted for hydrosols. They are much stronger, are not water soluble, and should not be used in the same manner as hydrosols.
~Only diffuse in well-ventilated areas
~Always wash your hands after using essential oils
~Keep all essential oils away from flames
Essential oils are highly flammable. They should not be used or stored near candles, gas stoves, lit cigarettes, or open fireplaces.
